How do I find my size?

If it’s possible for you, the best bet is to go visit a local jeweler and ask them to help you find your size–most jewelers are happy to help. If you already have jewelry that fits you well, it’s always great to measure those pieces as a starting point.

If going someplace in person isn’t possible, there are some great free resources you can print at home that will help you find your size, like this one here! All of our rings are listed in US sizes, but you can match your country’s sizing by looking at an international ring size chart like this one.

When it comes to bracelets, anklets or necklaces, you can use a soft tape measure to find your size.  All of our bodies shift size a bit throughout the day, so it’s generally worthwhile to provide a little wiggle room, unless the design is meant to fit exactly (and if that’s the case, we will say so clearly in the listing). Please note that when a jewel is particularly wide or thick, you will want to size up a bit.

May I return my treasure?

Any unaltered and unworn items can be returned within 7 days for full store credit!

Once the item has been received by us and confirmed to be in the same condition it was when we sent it to you, we will credit the full amount to your account. 

Please understand that any items that have been sized, altered, or personalized–either by us for you at your request, or by another jeweler on your end–are not eligible for return. Likewise, we can only accept one exchange per purchase, though any balance remaining after you exchange your piece can be credited towards a future purchase. Thank you for your understanding!

Can I have a refund instead of store credit?

Items are eligible for refund rather than store credit only if they were significantly misrepresented in their description. We take our responsibility to create accurate descriptions and documentation for you very seriously, but alas, we are a small group of humans and sometimes make mistakes. If you receive an item that is truly not as it was described to you, please let us know immediately and provide documentation, and we will refund you in full for the item as soon as we have received it back from you in the same condition in which we sent it. We are happy to say this is a very rare occurrence, but when it happens, we will be grateful to have the opportunity to make it right.  

Please note that jewelry from our Loved and Found and Translation collections will often show their many decades of life through nicks, thinning in some areas, etc. Normal signs of age such as these do not make a piece eligible for a refund, though you can absolutely send the piece back within 7 days of receiving it and receive store credit. 

How soon do I need to use my credit after I return my piece?

We ask that you use your store credit within 30 days after the date we receive and confirm your return. We want to help you find a piece you unreservedly adore, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with specific ideas you are in search of, and it will be our pleasure to help connect you with the piece that steals your heart. 

Can I return my replacement piece?

Once you have chosen and received your replacement piece, we can no longer continue to exchange pieces based on the same original purchase. Thank you for your understanding! If, however, you choose a replacement piece that costs less than your original piece, we can absolutely roll that credit over to your next purchase with us.

How do you determine the era of the Loved and Found pieces?

Unless a piece has a date hallmark or a verified certificate of authenticity, the dates we list for specific pieces are always educated estimates based on the style, material, cut of gems and any other details we can use to match the piece in our hands to its historical origin story. As jewelry collectors and voracious lovers of art, history, and mythology, getting to do this research is one of our favorite parts of the job!  We feel confident in our assessments, but we are also humble in the face of the extensive and extraordinarily complex history of jewelry across time and cultures. 

Please note that disagreeing with our date estimate after purchasing a piece does not make that purchase eligible for refund. That said, you can absolutely still return the piece for store credit within seven days of receiving it, as long as it has not been sized or customized for you! 

Do you take on any custom projects?

We love custom work, and we take on a limited number of custom projects per season, in order to be sure we can give each project the attention it deserves. At the moment we are not taking on new projects, but we will be announcing when customs are open again first to our mailing list, which you can sign up for here (scroll down to the bottom of the page)! We do make exceptions where possible for date-specific special event pieces such as engagement rings, graduation, bas mitzvah and quinceañera presents, etc, including a specific date by which you want to celebrate yourself for an accomplishment that is meaningful to you. So if you are hoping to work with us on that kind of a project, please reach out and let us know right away and we will do our best to accommodate you! 

What is the process for custom pieces?

Custom projects begin at $3,000, and require a $1000 deposit. Once your deposit is received, we begin with a brief video call where we hear about your dreams, look at stones and sample designs together, get to know which parts of our design language most resonate for you, and then go from there! 

After our initial consultation, we will choose gems and materials, create a drawing, and then a digital CAD for your approval, confirm the final budget, receive the balance of your payment, and then make your completely unique piece. 

We always suggest accounting for a turnaround of 8-10 weeks for a custom piece (and closer to 10-12 weeks as we approach the holidays). If you have a specific date by which you need to have the piece, please let us know in our very first conversations so that we can do everything in our power to accommodate you. We love special occasions, and are always honored to be your partner in making them even more special!

How do you source gems and metal for your pieces?

We work with trusted gem dealers who share our priorities regarding the primacy of safe and healthy work conditions with fair pay, fair mining practices that are sustainable and sound for both the people and ecosystem of the region, and that as much of the wealth created through mining stays in the communities that are doing the work as possible. Wherever possible, we work with recycled gold and platinum, and love giving new life to antique and vintage gems.

What does ‘unique, strange, magnetic and unexpected’ look like?

We are much less interested in valuing a stone for its perfection, and much more interested in valuing it for the unique colors and the internal marks that tell the story of its origins. From time to time our interests overlap with those of the traditional gem market–sometimes a near colorless diamond just happens to carry a unique voice and capture our hearts–but most of the time where tradition asks for colorless, we prize warmth, where tradition asks for uniform tone, we prize as vast a range of color as we can find and where tradition desires clarity, we chase after the kind of natural fingerprints in a stone (inclusions) that can never be found twice.

How does layaway work?

We are happy to provide layaway through Klarna, a fantastic third party service accessible when you check out on our website. Klarna will automatically break the cost of your chosen piece up into four interest-free payments, paid every two weeks, with no fees (unless you are late on a payment). We love this option, as it gives you a secure and easy way to break up your payment so it is more comfortable for you, and it allows us to send you your treasure right away. 

Here’s how it works! After you add your pieces to your shopping cart, you will click ‘Klarna’ before you check out. If you already have a Klarna account, you will just sign in and be good to go! If you don’t yet have one, you will enter your personal details and find out right away if you are approved (and this process will not impact your credit score–we love that for all of us!) 

For in-stock pieces, we will ship out your order as soon as your Klarna plan is initiated and you make your first payment. Klarna will email you when it’s time to make your next payments, and you can also manage your orders and payments in the Klarna app

For made-to-order pieces, we will ship your order according to the timeline listed for that particular piece. (Usually 6-8 weeks)

How does shipping work?

Shipping is free for all domestic, US-based purchases. We are located in Los Angeles, and we are very happy to ship worldwide, with the current exception of Russia and Chile. All orders will be sent insured shipping via USPS priority or UPS, and all international shipments will be sent via UPS Air. 

Our standard is tracked and insured priority mail with USPS and tracked and insured UPS, and it is a joy to offer this service to you. If you would prefer another form of shipping, please make a note in your order when you check out and we will do our best to accommodate your request, though in some cases this may require an additional fee. 

Please note however that we cannot be held responsible for your package once it leaves our hands, though we will of course provide you all the documentation needed from our end to file a claim in the event your package goes missing. Any purchase made through our website is an agreement to this term. Likewise, for any returns, shipping is the responsibility of the customer both to us, and with the new piece back to you.  

Please note that all orders over $500 we recommend a signature for delivery. We know this can be a pain to coordinate with work schedules and the busyness of life, but if it ensures your package arrives safely, it's worth it!

What if I am trying to purchase a piece for my partner or family member or dear friend but I’m not sure what they would like?

We love love love and LOVE getting to help you find just the right magical piece for your love! Please reach out to us and let us know you need help, and we will be so excited to have the opportunity to work with you on finding something that feels just right.  If you are purchasing for a specific occasion, please let us know ASAP so that we can be sure to match your timeline. If, for instance, said occasion happens to be next week, we’ll send you some delicious options that we have in stock! 

Please note that we are happy to extend our usual 7-day exchange policy for gifts up to 21 days if the person receiving the gift is the one making the exchange. Please make a note that the piece is a gift when you check out, and provide your email, and we will be in touch with the procedure for gift exchange. 

If you are hoping for a custom piece for a commitment ceremony, please know that we *love* helping with ceremonial rings (fun fact, our first ever official custom pieces were a set of special engagement rings for a couple we love dearly). We will always do our best to fit you in, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. And if custom rings aren’t your style, we are happy to do ceremonial bracelets, earrings, necklaces, or whatever special form you are dreaming of.
